TRAJECTORY SENSITIVITY TO RAWlNSONDE DATA RESOLUTION
نویسندگان
چکیده
~Meteorological measurements collected during the Cross Appalachian Tracer Experiment (CAPTEX) were used to evaluate the sensitivity of trajectory calculations to variations in the spatial and temporal density of rawinsonde data. Data resolution was systematically adjusted in order to separately evaluate the effects of enhanced spatial and temporal resolution. Variable mixed layer, constant layer, and constant level trajectories were more sensitive to increases in spatial resolution than to increases in temporal resolution. For mixed layer, 0-400-m layer and 400-m level trajectories, sensitivity to combined increases in both spatial and temporal rawinsonde data resolution was dominated by the effects of spatial resolution alone. This dominance was not observed for trajectories calculated at higher levels and layers. Trajectory case studies corresponding to two CAPTEX tracer releases were presented. These examples illustrate the potential effects of a single additional measurement at an existing National Weather Service rawinsonde station, and the importance of specifying the initial transport wind accurately. Key word index: Trajectory sensitivity, spatial and temporal data resolution, rawinsonde.

The readers' ability to integrate current information with given information has been considered as an important component of reading comprehension process. One aspect of this integration process involves anaphoric resolution. The purpose of this study is to investigate the process of anaphoric resolution, focusing on inferential rigidity of different types of anaphoric ties. Ninety EFL learner...
متن کاملAutomated Conflict Resolution – a Simulation-based Sensitivity Study of Airspace and Demand
The performance of an automated conflict resolution algorithm was investigated in terms of its sensitivity to specific airspace regions and increased traffic demand. The algorithm is envisioned as part of an automated separation assurance function in a future air traffic control system. It was tested in a non-real-time simulation of current-day and heavily increased demand scenarios, based on 2...
متن کاملA resolution comparison of horizontal and vertical magnetic transfer functions
The main goal of the present study is to identify characteristics of the inter-station horizontal magnetic responses and the vertical magnetic data, as two types of magnetotelluric transfer functions, in the modeling procedure. Through consideration of model responses and two-dimensional inversion of synthetic data, sensitivity of the data components in detecting different geophysical structure...
متن کاملAn investigation into the effect of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) echo time spacing and number of echoes on the sensitivity and dose resolution of PAGATUG polymer-gel dosimeter
Background: There are various methods to read out responses of a polymer-gel dosimeter, among which the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technique is the most common one. Optimizing imaging protocols can have significant effect on the sensitivity and the dose resolution of polymer gel dosimeters. This study has investigated the effects of the number of echoes (NOE) and the echo time spacing (ES...
متن کاملVariable density spiral fMRI
Introduction: In the original variable-density (VD) spiral trajectory[1], the sampling density varies throughout the k-space trajectory; i.e., k(τ) = λτe , where the parameter α controls the rate of density variation. Here, we propose a k-space trajectory consisting of an Archimedean spiral[2] from the origin out to a given radius k1, and extending beyond k1 with a variable-density spiral of α>...
